THE REAL REVIEW BEGINS - it's ingredients
Well it has huge list of ingredients but here the most important ones are discussed, so it's upon you to read all carefully and choose your product wisely. This article neither sponsors the product neither criticizes it. Article just puts forward the reality.
1) Stearic Acid, Lauric Acid, Myristic Acid, Oleic Acid and Palmitic Acid = These are fatty acids gathered from animal and human fats. Cosmetic Ingredient Review (CIR) Expert Panel assessed their safety & concluded that these ingredients were safe for use in cosmetic products.
2) Decyl glucoside is a mild non-ionic surfactant used in cosmetic formularies including baby shampoo and in products for individuals with a sensitive skin. Many natural personal care companies use this cleanser because it is plant-derived, biodegradable, and gentle. Decyl glucoside is not harmful and has a lower skin irritation level compared to other surfactants. This ingredient is often an attractive choice for shampoos and other personal care cleaning applications because it has desirable foaming properties.
3) Glyceryl Stearate : Its an emollient that softens and moisturizes skin and hair. In addition, Glyceryl Stearate is used as a thickening agent. BUT it's Side effects are = Its is a very mild irritant and can cause allergic reactions, otherwise it's a safe ingredient.
INGREDIENTS WORTH CONCERN :
1) Propylene Glycoi (PG) : PG forms a sort of seal over your skin, preventing the escape of water. (Note that it doesn't add any moisture to your skin.)
: PG also enhances penetration. That means the cream or lotion you're using is more likely to penetrate the surface layer of the skin and go deeper. Sometimes even into the bloodstream. So far we have no scientific studies on the long-term effects of our exposure to this chemical.
: PG also tends to sit on the surface of skin after you rinse it, dissolving the fats and oils your skin needs to stay nourished. Your skin reacts by becoming parched and dry and requiring more applications of moisturizer. This makes skin dryer, and requiring more moisture. It's a vicious cycle.
2) Potassium Hydroxide = main function of potassium hydroxide in cosmetics and personal care products is to establish and hold the pH of a product. Though Cosmetic Ingredient Review (CIR) Expert Panel has declared its use in cosmetics in small proportion as safe BUT you need to know some facts about the chemical.
: Concentrated potassium hydroxide is a strong irritant and corrosive to the skin, eyes, respiratory tract, and gastrointestinal system if ingested. The severity of effects caused by potassium hydroxide is a function of the concentration, the pH, the length of tissue contact time, and local conditions and skin type. Thus it should not be smelled, ingested or to be contacted with your eyes and skin. It's concentration may prove fatal.
3) Perfumes = Artificial fragrances of such cosmetics are derived from perfumes. Some perfumes may be made up of natural or non-toxic items while some perfumes may be a cocktail of carcinogens (cancer causing), allergens (allergy causing), endocrine disruptors (harmful effect on developmental, reproductive and neurological functions) and irritants (irritation causing). This product doesn't list its perfume forming ingredients.
4) Glycol Distearate : The Cosmetic Ingredient Review (CIR) Expert Panel reported - no human skin irritation or sensitization from glycol distearate. The concerns with this ingredient are probably mostly focused on allergies, in that if you're allergic, it's best to stay away.
Cosmetic Ingredient Review (CIR) Expert Panel considers all these ingredients safe ONLY IF used in specific proportions example if 5 gm of Potassium Hydroxide ingestion may cause death of a person. Unfortunately the information about proportion of these ingredients in this face wash is unavailable on the product which can also be seen in other similar products.
TO CONCLUDE :
You may decide to buy this product or not BUT one thing to imbibe in your head is,
NEVER EVER :
A) INGEST ANY COSMETIC PRODUCTS (not even by mistake).
B) CONTACT SUCH PRODUCTS WITH EYES (if happens, immediately rinse with water).
C) USE TO WASH INTIMATE AREAS (it could be fatal).
