People may ask you if they can get some oil for frying their veggies if your face is loaded with it & looks as if you had oil wash, something like this :

First of all let's know what causes our skin to be oily, it's Sebum, released from Sebaceous glands (microscopic glands in
the skin). It's is an yellowish oily substance made up of fats. It isn’t bad since it protects and moisturizes our skin and
keeps hair shiny and healthy. However, too much sebum may lead to oily skin, resulting in clogged pores and acne.
Genetics, hormonal changes or even
stress may increase sebum production. While other factors behind oily skin may be nutritional habits, oily makeup & skin-care products.
Symptoms of oily skin include:
- a shiny or greasy appearance
- very large or obvious pores on the skin
- skin that looks thick or rough
- occasional or persistent pimples
- clogged pores and blackheads
CAUSES & SOLUTIONS FOR YOUR OILY SKIN
1. Over Sebum production
: As discussed above, it's caused due to Genetics, Hormonal changes or Stress thus solution to it is :
(a) Apply entire lemon juice using a cotton pad over your face. Avoid
lemon juice if your skin is very sensitive or have
active acne as it can cause irritation. Lemon helps cleansing skin pores and
removing sebum and oil triggering bacteria..
(b) Few milk drops in a tsp. of turmeric can be a great
face mask to apply. Let it dry for 10 minutes and rinse your
face with cold water.
(c) Soak used coffee grounds in pure coconut oil & massage it over skin additional benefits being even skin texture and toning.
Other Precautions to take :
- Avoid greasy beauty products which do not cause secretion of sebum or oil.
- Beauty products that cause skin irritation must be avoided as your pores may form sebum to combat irritation.
- Face wash must be chosen wisely which suits your skin type and acts chemically to control sebum production. Dry skin people have sebum production below average.
- Dietary supplements which minimizes oil production, must be taken.
- Reduce eating oily and spicy food as it trigger sebum and oil production.
2. Hormonal imbalance
: When Puberty hits, a person has n number of visible changes both externally & internally, one of them being change in the skin. Androgen (a male hormone) decides sebum production, higher the androgen, more will be the sebum produced and secreted through skin pores. Thus it's absolutely necessary to have a healthy balanced diet full of nutrition which can help in fighting negative aspects of puberty.
3. Genetics
:
When a child is born, what entire family first talk about is how does
the child look, mother, father or someone else in the family. It is so
because genes of our parents implement in us what we call familial
traits, because of which we are alike our parents. Every part of the
body is affected due to parental genes and so does the skin. If you have
oily skin, check your mom's or paa's skin, it would be oily either.
It's completely natural and nothing is worth worrying.
4. Caking too much of makeup

5. Harsh cleansers & scrubs

6. Utilizing inappropriate skincare products
: Due to lack of knowledge about how to choose our skincare products, people often get lured by attractive advertisements and it may prove regretful for them later. 7. Nutritional habits
: Indian mother shouts at her children when they eat skin ruining foods, because she is tought from the beginning what to eat and what not to. Fried foods, Salty snacks, Sugar loaded items, dairy products like cheese, butter and milk; etc can trigger oil-producing glands in the skin to increase secretion. Though dairy items are quite essential for calcium and other types of nutrition but other food items must be avoided
